Something is brewing. An undercurrent that has grown in strength for decades, is nearing the surface. And when even the Harvard Business Review is starting to talk about the value of a Rebel, although their version is more like lukewarm tea, it's revolution time. Or at least nearly so.
For those aspiring to lead a revolution, the I-Ching offers some remarkable wisdom still relevant today. In short:
The time must be right.
Care in the beginning ensures more effective results in the end.
The agenda must be free of selfish motivations.
It’s not easy and without risk.
The revolution cannot involve ruthlessness or extreme haste.
Deliberation and strategic action serve the cause.
In order to succeed, revolutions must be in alignment with certain laws of nature and good timing. They must begin at the right moment, gather support from a broad base of people, be guided by sincere and capable leaders and — most important of all — must address a real need.
The strength of the forces of change will always be in proportion to the urgency of the need being championed. This is true whether the revolution is in government, business, education or in one’s personal affairs.
So if revolutionary action is your thing, and you probably wouldn't be reading this if it wasn't, make good use of these valuable insights. They will pay-off.
